Getting Started with Jet Ski’s

All my son’s stated with Kawasaki 550 Jet Ski’s.

This is a standup jetskit and they’ve found old ski’s sitting around people’s yards and were able to pick them up for $100 or less.

Ebay’s a great place to find Kawasaki 550’s and Kawasaki 550 jet ski parts.

Searching for used jet ski’s can open up a whole new world.  Also the time of year makes a big difference, sometimes you’ll get lucky at the end of the season. Sometimes you find a goldmine in the middle of winter, however, most of the time end of winter or spring is the best time to start looking around for deals.

If you live in an area that still allows you to post classified in the local bulletin board, give that a try….especially if you live new water.

Don’t forget checking out Craigslist. I know one of my boys grabbed a good deal on Craigslist.

If you are a handy many or a mechanic, here’s the deal of a century!

The first is a 1990 Kawasaki 550 Jet Ski  – The first cylinder has great compression (140) but the second has only 35psi. She kicks in and starts right up.

The second is a 1985 Kawasaki 550 Jet Ski – Compression is low in both cylinders and has excessive main bearings noise. Ski ran until last week. She turns OK but doesn’t kick in this week.

Jet skis come with small flat bed trailer w/ hitch.

Title and registration recently renewed.

They both could use some help, but in the right hands, can become the meanest happiest jet skis around. I enjoyed riding them!

Hull is in good condition.

Make sure that you are willing to do some work on these skis before committing to buying them.

Ebay is a wonderful place to get a handle on market prices for different jetskis. Just do some research and get familiar with the model numbers. Avoid buying the most expensive jetski as your first one. If you buy a used ski, you can learn how to repair it. You’ll be able to upgrade the parts making it handle better and go faster. I speak from experience
