Panzi Asses
The captain must have lost his job over that one! The sails were down! so he can’t blame the wind!
The sails that you can see are all tattered and ripped. Apparently, this ship had a rough time of it off shore. It was being guided by an emergency pilot boat and it still crashed. Bermuda was a little upset because this paticular cat walf had just been installed at considerable expense. It was just amazing to see this whole thing unfold. I am glad you enjoyed it.
It doesn’t matter who was at the helm or in charge….the person who looses a job is always the captain because he is the ultimate leader and should have realized something was off. Sails were down so they had to be under power. It’s like getting into an accident…if you hit another car from behind you are going to get a ticket.
Thanks for the info! and yes I did enjoy it thankyou:-)
Expensive!
Lol that some massive fail
That’ll buff right out.
Okay kids, now that we’ve showed you what /not/ to do…
nothing a few nails and some spar varnish wont fix up…..and they’ll have that jetty cleaned all up in a day or two.
NOT
more damage to the cat, just a few scratches on the ship =)
Sorry, my old comment was inaccurate…
I was crew member of the STS Johann Smidt during this time. We sailed from Hamburg, Germany to central America and back, this happened during the way back, after a severe storm destroyed part of the main sail and damaged the rudder (small loss of fluid, no great deal). The captain is a retired commercial captain, he did this as a volunteer. In the end, insurance paid for everything, the cause was probably a failure in the engine control electronics.
hey luddi, danke für den link nochmal!
jep, this was quite an adventure…..^^
Well it’s obvious there was some problem with the engine too. I don’t think he motored into the dock on purpose you know.
leeeeeeearn how to driiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive
oops … maybe we should just leave quick before anyone notices … ok … we’ll at least leave a note.
not really a sailboat looks more like a ship lol
fail xD
Nice blue water
fo sho problems with the rudder are most dangerous at all!!! A ship without rudder in a storm is like a car without breaks on the highway!
full reverse for fuck sakes!!!!!!!!
lol
yah true and theirs no brake just reverse and that doesn’t react fast enough
THat Jimmy Buffett song should be the soundtrack for this video (Margaritaville)
